On 24th February 2007, Paul Asher (accordeon, fiddle and mandolin) was interviewed on NAG Radio, in Queensland, Australia. The slot lasted for nearly an hour and tracks from the new Elvis Fontenot CD were played, the band, their history and memorable gigs were discussed, along with chat about the UK Cajun scene and cajun/zydeco history in general. Click Here to listen to the complete recording, including all the tracks from the CD, played in full. |

| Just back from the 2006 Ameland CZ festival. Fantastic time. Well organised. Great people. Beautiful beach location. Glorious sunsets. And some of the CZ wasn't bad either ;-) Loads (and I mean loads - be patient whilst the pages load) of piccies here (Goto the bottom of the page and click on the 'hier te klikken.' link). There are links near the top of the list. They're in dutch but pretty obvious. Pictures of all the bands that played, all the people there, the jam session, and pictures on the ferries there and back. Cheers Pa | |

| Just back from a 'weekend to remember' in Holland, - Elvis Fontenot and the Sugar Bees are now officially the best Zydeco band in Europe (see piccies on photo page. Thanks to all that voted. I was going to do a write up of the weekend, but just noticed that fellow band member Nick Barber (aka Elvis Fontenot) has done one for the robbiefulks.com forum, so I'll copy his here ........ Well, after work on Friday, we dashed off to Liverpool John Lennon airport and three hours later we were in a minibus with up and coming zydeco musician Leon Chavis from Louisiana talking about jet-lag and wondering what the dutch were actually growing in the field-sized greenhouses that we were driven past...after watching Lisa Haley & the Zydekats, we then made considerable impact on the dutch stocks of Grolsch, before retiring to bed, just in time for a nap before breakfast. Saturday brought fierce heat and we visited the delights of dutch towns Raamsdonskveer(Where the International Cajun and Zydeco festival was based) and Made (Where our hotel was) After hearing much fine music and making a bunch of new friends from all over the world - and meeting up with several old ones, we hit the stage at 7.30 and proceeded to give it some, in typical EFSB style "Cajun on steroids" was how Lisa Haley described us. Then the icing on the cake - after coming off stage, the 3rd European Cajun and Zydeco awards..and we won the "Best Zydeco Band" category! Cue much taking of photographs for the press, interviews with dutch radio...sigh, fame....after enjoying the rest of the night boogying in the main to the excellent Leon Chavis and the Zydeco Flames, we retired to the hotel, where a piano was wheeled into the hotel bar, and the assembled cajun and zydeco talents of Elvis Fontenot, Cajun Denbo and Leon Chavis took over the local karaoke until 4 in the morning, much to the delight of the remainder of the hotel's residents...hee...a night never to forget. Sunday saw us recovering and trying to avoid the heat, making arrangements for our next dutch festival, setting up a gig in Louisiana with the Zydeco Flames next year and basically rehydrating. Then we flew back home via Liverpool..back to life, back to reality. We will be back at Raamsdonksveer next year, if all goes to plan, but next on our international travels we play Ameland in Northern Holland...watch this space... | |
