Lonely sky
=========
(Whenever I watch the sky I wonder where you are now)

Sed fell back into his chair. He was almost crying. He switched off the terminal and looked into the distance. His starship glided gently through the stars. His eyes got glassier and he noticed that he couldn't stop it. Tears rolled over his face.

He never saw the stars like he did tonight, so deep, so wide. He felt lonely - lost in a never ending night. Actually there was no difference in going forward or backward. No matter which course he chose stars looked the same everywhere. White eyes surrounded be infinite darkness.

Memories came to his mind. One moment they were there, the next moment they were gone. Sed thought of his childhood, his sister, his parents. He couldn't believe that he would never see them again.

The starship kept gliding through the night. Some displays flashed in different red and green colors. Sed ignored them. Normaly he would have looked for them but now he didn't care.

It must have been terrible, unimaginable. Sed tried to imagine people's efforts to escape. Outbreaking panic, masses running all at once, crying children. Just before they were safe it was too late. They didn't even have time to prepare themselves. Not even time to say goodbye before they drowned in the flood.

Many years went by since Sed left his home. Too often he decided to turn around. He would simply come back and everything would be like it used to be. Sed used to do this over and over again in his thoughts. Now it was too late.

Sed looked into the sky and wondered where they would be now.
