This Ones For You Sue - a song for Sue Hannah
 bluesslidegirl, posted 17 Jan 2008 04:30 AM   » Blog comments 0

I wrote this song for Sue Hannah, who passed away last year. She was the owner of Faces, the longest standing womyn's bars in Orlando. Florida, USA. Many bars came and went but her bar, Faces, ...stayed. Many women "came out" here. My band Blues Matters had the pleasure of playing at Faces several times.  We  played this song at her memorial at Faces one week after she passed away.

I'd like to thank my son Nick Bruno for playing drums, and Daryl Morrow for the piano.

Click on "our songs" over on the right side and click "play" to play the song.

You can also purchase song if you want to download it.

Support local musicians - we can't keep playing and making music without your help.

Thanks

Blues Matters (HEY, THATS US!): has strong opinions on current affairs. Razzle Dazzle Man, Award, best Blues Song at SSA, 2006 in-your-face musical arrangements (think female Southern Lou Reed). The lyrics are as smoky as the music, giving blunt commentary on everything from war (against it) to love (for it). Their first recording as a trio, of Kristen's Bush-slamming "Razzle Dazzle Man", was just voted Best Blues Song of the Year by Songwriters Showcases of America. http://www.motagator.net/bluesmatters and http://www.myspace.com/bluesmatters

Razzle Dazzle Man - "plugged" version
 bluesslidegirl, posted 27 Aug 2006 02:06 AM   » Blog comments 0
Wrote this song after getting very depressed and saddened by the way people in power love to cause trouble for the rest of us who want peace. Blues Matters has been playing this song around town for about a year .... BUT ... as a special treat, Blues Matters borrowed Mr. Stephen Grayce for his magnificent bass guitar skills and used a beat machine for drums. Here is Stephen's site. stephengrayce.com He is an accomplished guitarist and songwriter as well as bass player and writes some pretty good stuff . Check him out. Would Kristen ever steer you wrong?
Sadly the events continue. Will this circle ever be "broken".
More songs were made with Stephens elegant basslines and in time they will also be put up.

New Video SEVEN - Blues Matters do not like unnecessary death
 bluesslidegirl, posted 15 Jul 2006 12:49 PM   » Blog comments 0
BLUES MATTERS , LIKE ABOUT 99 PERCENT OF THE WORLD, DOES NOT LIKE WAR.
There are but a few powerful men in the countries of the world. Yet they are sending countless men and women to their death prematurely. War is not the answer.

Here is rare footage of Kristen performing her locally famous song "Seven" at the Black Cat Coffeehouse in orlando florida.
The first line of the song, which is spoken, was cut off the video, so here it is:
"Being led by selfish men, .... with smiles as sweet as sin.... With pawns spread out so far and wide .... this is a game of chess we cannot win"
